Testing progressive die on ETS tryout press

Engineered Tooling Systems

Better tooling. Better service.

Since April of 1996, Engineered Tooling Systems, Inc. (ETS) has had a home in the Northwest corner of Grand Rapids, MI. As an ISO 9001:2000 corporation serving a global customer base of automotive, appliance, and other industrial part manufacturers, ETS has earned a reputation of building high-quality dies that meet timing and budget requirements.

Focus

ETS designs, builds, reengineers, and services small to large sized sheet metal stamping dies and tooling.

With several hundred dies under its belt, ETS has experience with:

  • progressive, transfer and line dies.
  • deep draws, complex extrusions, and over bends.
  • standard, sound deadening, heat shield, and heavy thickness materials.
  • integration into automated assembly lines.

Also, ETS has the skill to keep dies running by:

  • scheduling comprehensive die maintenance programs.
  • making the proper repairs when damage occurs.
  • modifying existing dies to reflect engineering changes.

To see some of our dies and end parts we have made, see our gallery of recent work below. Also, for more information about stamping dies, learn about that and the other stamping die companies in the group on our Stamping Dies section.

On-site Equipment and Staff

The more you can do under your own roof (in ETS's case, under a 23,000 sq. ft. roof) increases your power of control over costs and timing. This power allows us at ETS to pass savings on to our clients.

  • 3 - Tryout presses
    • Ranging in size up to 800-tons (72" x 156" bed with a 48" wide coil feeder)
  • 3 - Overhead cranes
    • Capable of lifting up to 15-tons
  • 3 - High-speed CNC mills
    • With work areas up to X82" Y32" Z27.5"
  • ≈ 40 - Employees
    • Including project managers, estimators, designers, die builders, machinist, and administrators

Off-site Equipment

Expanding our capacity, we have 8 additional presses at our TSG off-site tryout facility just a couple miles down the road. Ranging in size up to 1,350-tons (80" x 200" bed with a 42" x 32.25" window) with a 54" coil feeder, we can run from frame rails to small parts for testing and part run off.

For a detailed list of our on-site capabilities, please view our equipment list below.

Blended Tooling

Utilizing the efficient practices of LCC tooling, ETS can deliver a package that assumes the proper level of risk and savings into our customers program. Visit our Blended Tooling section to learn more about our program and how we are not a tooling broker.

Tooling Systems Group Connection

As a member of the Tooling Systems Group, ETS has access to resources that bring better quality to its customers with:

  • increased buying power through centralized purchasing.
  • increased efficiency and capacity.
  • shared knowledge of best practices and processes.
  • vertical integration for a seamless project from start to finish.
